The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) has officially opened online applications for the 2026 academic year, unveiling its newly upgraded application system designed to streamline the process for prospective students. The new platform, now live and accessible, offers a faster, simpler, and more user-friendly experience.
The public launch follows a successful pilot test conducted on 5 June 2025, during which internal stakeholders evaluated the system’s functionality and performance. Feedback from the session was overwhelmingly positive, with participants commending the platform’s modern interface, improved accessibility, and intuitive features.
Acting Registrar Ms Tsakane Maluleke expressed confidence in the revamped system during the testing phase, describing it as a major step forward from its predecessor. “Applicants can now easily identify qualifications that match their eligibility without having to navigate long prospectuses. It’s quicker, more intuitive, and significantly reduces common application errors,” she said.
Echoing her sentiments, Mr Carcidio Khoza, Academic Officer of the Student Representative Council, highlighted the platform’s ease of use. “The system guides applicants step-by-step, making it accessible even to those with limited technical skills. It will also improve administrative efficiency by streamlining document management, application tracking, and communication,” he added.
This upgraded system is part of VUT’s broader digital transformation strategy, aligned with its Strategy 2033+ goal of enhancing student services and operational effectiveness.
Applications officially opened on 9 June 2025, and VUT expects a surge in applications from both undergraduate and postgraduate prospects eager to benefit from the improved experience.
The closing date for 2026 applications is 31 October 2025. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply early to avoid last-minute congestion and ensure sufficient time for submitting any additional documentation.
