What Are Matric Results?

The Different Matric Pass Levels (Admissions)
South Africa has four main matric pass levels, each allowing access to different post-school opportunities.
1. Bachelor’s Degree Pass
This is the highest pass level and allows you to apply to universities for degree programmes.
Minimum requirements:

At least 50% in four subjects (excluding Life Orientation)

2. Diploma Pass
This pass allows entry into diploma courses at universities of technology and some colleges.

When Will the Matric Results Be Released in January 2026?
South Africa's 2025 Matric Results (National Senior Certificate - NSC) will be announced by the Minister on January 12, 2026, with results available to candidates at their schools or exam centers from January 13, 2026, though online access might start from 6 AM on the 13th. These results follow the November 2025 exams, and candidates needing to improve can register for the May/June 2026 exams.
