UJ Registration 2026 — What Returning Students Need to Know

Whether you’re continuing your degree, upgrading modules, or picking up where you left off, registration at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) is a crucial first step to kickstarting your academic year. Let’s walk through what you need to know — from dates and deadlines to practical steps that will help you register smoothly.

Important Registration Dates

For the 2026 academic year, UJ has confirmed the following registration period for returning students:

  • Senior and Returning Undergraduate Students:

  • Registration opens on 12 January 2026 and closes on 6 February 2026.

Students are strongly encouraged to register as early as possible, as module availability is limited and late registration is not guaranteed.

Online Registration Process

UJ registration is conducted entirely online:

  • Registration takes place off campus through the official UJ student portal.

  • Students will need their student number and password to log in and complete registration.

  • There are no walk-in registrations, so ensure you have reliable internet access during the registration period.

What to Do Before You Register

To ensure a smooth registration process, students should prepare the following in advance:

✔ Check Your Financial Status
Outstanding fees or financial blocks may prevent you from registering. Ensure all payments and arrangements are finalised beforehand.

✔ Review Your Academic Progress
You may only register for modules for which you meet the prerequisites. The system prioritises compulsory modules and may block registration if requirements are not met.

✔ Returning After a Break
Students who interrupted their studies or are returning after academic exclusion may require faculty approval before registering. Contact your faculty if this applies to you.

Fees and Proof of Registration

Even if your fees are covered by a sponsor, bursary, or employer, a minimum upfront payment may still be required to complete registration.

Once registration is successful:

  • Download your proof of registration

  • Confirm that your qualification and modules are correct

This document serves as your official confirmation of enrollment for 2026.
