About TUT
Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) started in 2004 by combining three technikons. The goal was to address past inequalities by giving access to all communities and a learning place for all students. In a short time, it became the largest contact university in South Africa, with seven faculties offering programs in various fields. In 2018, Times Higher Education (THE) ranked TUT among the top 1000 universities globally and in the top 300 for engineering programs. THE also ranked it eighth in South Africa. In 2017, University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) named it the number one University of Technology in Africa.
