About TUT
Three former Technikons came together to form Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in 2004 with the goal of fostering diversity and granting access to higher education. Since its establishment, TUT has grown significantly and is today recognised as the biggest contact university in South Africa.
The university's faculties include those in education, humanities, business and administration, engineering and the built environment, science, and the arts. These faculties offer a wide range of academic programs to prepare students for a number of professional fields.
The Times Higher Education (THE) rankings position TUT's engineering programs in the top 300 worldwide. The university is ranked seventh among South African universities and among the top 1,000 universities worldwide.
