About TUT
Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) was established in 2004 through the merger of three former Technikons, with the goal of creating a unified and inclusive institution that offers equitable access to higher education and fosters a strong sense of community. Since its establishment, TUT has grown rapidly and is now the largest contact university in South Africa. The university offers a wide range of academic programmes across seven faculties, including education, humanities, commerce and administration, engineering and technology, science, and the arts. TUT’s engineering programmes are ranked among the top 1,000 universities worldwide and within the top 300 by the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings, while nationally the institution is ranked seventh.
